What to Expect During Each Stage of Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming, especially when you don’t know what to expect. Understanding pregnancy symptoms week by week is crucial to managing the changes you experience.

  • First trimester: This stage starts from week 1 to week 12. You may experience early pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness, fatigue, and mood swings. You might also experience tender or swollen breasts and frequent urination. During this stage, your baby’s brain, spinal cord, and organs begin to form.
  • Second trimester: From week 13 to week 28, your baby grows rapidly, and their movements become more noticeable. You might feel less nauseous and have more energy. However, you could also develop pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • Third trimester: This final stage begins from week 29 until delivery. Your belly grows bigger as your baby prepares for birth. You’ll experience Braxton Hicks contractions, which are practice contractions that help prepare your body for labor. Fatigue might return because of the extra weight you’re carrying around.

Each stage of pregnancy presents its unique experiences and changes. Being informed about what to anticipate at every turn aids in navigating this transformative journey with clarity.
