Introduction – What is Tinea Cruris?

Tinea cruris, commonly known as jock itch, is a fungal infection that affects the groin area. It is caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes, which thrive in warm and moist environments. Tinea cruris is more common in men, but both men and women can develop this condition. The infection can be transmitted through direct contact with an infected person or by sharing personal items such as towels or clothing. Poor hygiene and excessive sweating can also contribute to the development of tinea cruris.
