Causes of Heel Spurs

Heel spurs are often caused by strains on foot muscles and ligaments, stretching of the plantar fascia, and repeated tearing of the membrane that covers the heel bone. These conditions can lead to the development of a bony protrusion or heel spur. Other contributing factors include wearing poorly fitting shoes, obesity, and certain activities that put excessive stress on the feet, such as running and jumping.

Some symptoms of heel spurs include sharp pain in the heel, tenderness, swelling, and difficulty walking or standing for long periods of time. It is important to seek treatment from a healthcare professional if you suspect you have heel spurs to prevent further complications.
