Causes for Intertrigo’s Occurrence

Intertrigo is primarily caused by friction and heat in skin folds, creating a favorable environment for the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeast. The most common factors contributing to intertrigo include obesity, excessive sweating, poor hygiene, moisture buildup, and certain medical conditions like diabetes or immune system disorders. Additionally, wearing tight clothing or non-breathable fabrics can exacerbate the condition.

Additionally, certain medical conditions, such as diabetes or obesity, can also increase the risk of developing intertrigo. These conditions create an environment conducive to the growth of microorganisms, further exacerbating the symptoms of intertrigo.
